 JORDAN GASPER!  VOTE BREAKDOWN....

In a tight race, featuring an all-star filmers bracket, Jordan Gasper and Paul Dybas generated the most feedback and votes.   Jordan takes home a LG Spirit 4G phone from Metro PCS, some prizes from NEFF, Gliks. His name also goes on the AGA Cup as top filmer for 2013.

Paul will receive prizes from NEFF, AGA Nation, National Guard for making it to the final two. Congrats to both Jordan and Paul for great work and all the Filmer Nominees. And a big shout out to Bruce Pfeiffer for his help coordinating the month long promotion.

Here is what some had to say.

Julian Edward Fetterman · Director at Windells Camp

Both edits were very well done, but I feel Jordan's project involved more work and technicality as Alex said. We all know filming on snow is more difficult as well. All in all, I real liked both, but Jordan really shows more diverse shots in a harder environment and more flow overall.
Shane M. Brady · IM THE BOSS at Inacomp
@Darryln Coleman
Not sure what you mean by "What has he done lately?" , if you would have looked at his Vimeo page you would have seen multiple edits that have come as recent as a couple weeks ago, and nor is this Jordan's best work if you go to his Vimeo page there is much more advanced and difficult filming as well as rehearsed and balanced editing. Please don't falsely publicize information that could potentially harm one of the competitors chances at winning. No hard feeling, just setting facts straight.
Will Johnston
JORDAN is the better filmer, its actually pretty close with the non action shots but when it comes to the sports shots I gotta give it to Jordan.....Dope for sure.

Darryln Coleman · Waukegan, Illinois
This isn't even Paul Dybas best work! Jordan Gaspers edit is from 2011. What has he done lately?

Kyle Mack

  • Age: 15
  • Nationality: USA
  • Stance: Goofy
  • Height: small
  • Residence: W. Bloomfield
  • Home resort: Boyne Mountain, Alpine Valley
  • Competing since: I started at 2 years old and started competing at 6.

What got you interested in snowboarding?
I started snowboarding when I was 2, down my driveway and at the local mountains in Michigan. I remember getting really interested in snowboarding after watching the X Games in 2002. I was 4 years old at the time, and after seeing a slope-style event, I just wanted to learn those tricks that the pros were doing.

Do you get nervous before dropping into a run during competition?
Of course I get nervous before big events, because I always want to do well. Free riding is a completely different mindset, because you can have a bad day and blow it off and look forward to tomorrow.

How are you able to balance school with competitions?
With the help of my mom, dad and coaches. My teachers work with me and allow me to do a lot of school work on the road. So far, I have been keeping my grades up and progressing with snowboarding, so it’s working out. Also, I use the Internet to take tests and turn in my homework and other assignments when I am away.

How did you first get noticed by the snowboarding community?
Tim at my local shop, TWC, introduced me to Mike Cox [Midwest Burton rep], and from there I earned my way up to the Burton Smalls team. At age 7, I was in a video called “Kids Who Rip,” which features young kids who excel in different sports. I started traveling and riding with the Burton Smalls at the European Open at age 8. I’ve also been in other local snow and wakeboarding videos.

TOP HIGH SCHOOL SNOWBOARDERS TO RACE FOR STATE CHAMPIONSHIPS

WHITE LAKE, MICH – Snowboarders from 10 Michigan high schools will compete in the Michigan High School Snowboard Association Bordercross State Championships Feb. 8, 2013 at Alpine Valley in White Lake. Racing begins at 9 a.m., with team and individual honors on the line.

Boardercross (also known as snowboard cross or SBX) tests riders’ skill and nerve as they race down the mountain in groups of four or five, over a course that includes jumps, rollers and banked turns.

The Michigan High School Snowboard Association started nine years ago to promote the appreciation, understanding and growth of high school snowboarding in Michigan. Today the organization has the largest high school snowboarding program in the country, with 10 teams and more than 500 athletes in two leagues. Leagues are based at Alpine Valley and Mt. Brighton.

Alpine Valley                                                            Mt. Brighton
Milford                                                                        Howell
Lakeland                                                                    Brighton
Detroit Country Day                                                  Hartland
St. Mary's & Ladywood                                            Catholic Central
Walled Lake                                                              Pickney

The top five boys' and girls' teams in the state (top two teams in each league, plus one wildcard qualifier) will compete for team titles. The fastest 16 boys and girls from each league make up the individual fields.

In the event of rain or weather too warm to sustain snow, the championships will be held Feb. 14, 2013. Alpine Valley (248-887-2180) can provide information on snow conditions.
