Not only will this year's Plymouth Ice Festival feature the first ever Downtown Rail Jam for boarders and skiers but also a chance for shredders to ride the official X Games course.  The event managed by the Bonehead X, can qualify one (1) snowboarder/man, 1 snowboarder/woman;  one(1) skier/man and one (1) skier/woman to compete on the X-Games course during the X Games!

Qualifiers must be FULL USASA members. If you want to compete in the Downtown Rail Jam as a free trial or One Day and then you qualify and the win opportunity, you must join as a FULL member before they can receive their invitation. The event will be Open Class level, although since it will not be officially a USASA point event, we will not require that the athletes be IN USASA Open Class. To qualify you must place at your local USASA series Rail Jam event, Each Series will be able to qualify 1 person in each of the disciplines:

PRE-REGISTER HERE!

Just to be perfectly clear, this is NOT an X Games event. This is an event happening on the X Games Rail venue at the X Games, but the qualifiers are not in any way qualifying into the X Games. The real X Games event is Friday night.

The entire Downtown Rail Jam during the Plymouth Ice Festival can be found here:

Boyne, Crystal and Shanty Creek are on board for the snowboard/freeski competitions and after-party events … cash prizes for top finishers & Monster Energy prizes highlight the new series
BOYNE CITY, Mich. (Dec. 5, 2012) – The Midwest’s top freeskiers and snowboarders stand the chance to line their pockets with wads of cash this winter as America’s No. 1 by-volume selling energy drink - Monster Energy - has stepped up to sponsor Michigan’s richest ski & snowboard contest series – The Michigan Monster Energy Winter Cup Series.
Hosted by three of northern Michigan’s premier ski & snowboard resorts – Boyne Highlands, Crystal Mountain and Shanty Creek – the inaugural Michigan Monster Energy Winter Cup Series will showcase snowsports at a whole new amplitude level, spread across three separate contests throughout the spectacular northern Michigan winter. Slopestyle, complete with rails, boxes and a multitude of big air-launching hits – everything you’d see in the major winter action sports contest on TV – will be infused into this first-of-its-kind contest series – complete with the mountain cred of Monster Energy’s M-claw logo.

“Since announcing the partnership between Shanty Creek and Monster Energy, along with the Monster Energy Park at Schuss Mountain, the buzz has been nothing short of awesome,” said Chris Hale, Shanty Creek Resorts’ Vice President of Sales & Marketing. “To say we’re stoked would be an understatement. Adding the Michigan Monster Energy Winter Cup Series to our season’s event mix will be another cool way to showcase the best ski resorts in Michigan, and the Monster Energy Park at Schuss Mountain.”
The Michigan Monster Energy Winter Cup Series’ competitions will take place within the existing terrain parks designated for snowboarding and freeskiing. Features abound as Boyne Highlands, Crystal and Shanty Creek’s parks are on par with some of the nation’s best facilities – and certainly the best northern Michigan has to offer.
“When we started to develop this series we wanted to make sure we had all the right elements to challenge the competitors,” said BoneheadX.com’s Greg Flowers, event manager for the Michigan Monster Energy Winter Cup Series. “Getting back to the core of riding, we selected the slopestyle discipline to showcase the athlete’s talent from an overall judging standpoint.”
Michigan Monster Energy Winter Cup Series competition prize breakdown:
·        Each event winner will take home $100 in cash and prizes – six winners per event!
·        Each of the six series champions will receive a Monster M-Claw trophy, a Monster snowboard and other prizes totaling more than $500 each.
·        Registration for participation in the entire series (all three events) is $30 and also includes a wristband to EACH of the VIP after-parties. Individual event registration would be $15 plus the after-party wristband would be an additional $5… so a huge savings for signing up for whole series.
·        Monster Army – Monster Energy’s social media wing – will add additional podium cash for the series to anyone signed up for Monster Army by Dec 31st.  $300/$200/$100 additional prize money for 1st/2nd/3rd in each of the six series points after the three events!

As noted above, in expanding upon the competition end of the events the Michigan Monster Energy Winter Cup Series will also feature an after-party at each of the three resorts – something Monster Energy is famous for hosting at events such as the X Games and Dew Tour.
